Since SMARTE™ is composed primarily of recycled tires, its environmental considerations and impacts on longevity are numerous:

  • For every square foot of SMARTE™, there is one less tire in a landfill

  • If wear or damage occurs to the top layer, it can be removed leaving the SMARTE™ foundation layer intact and a new surfacing layer can be applied

  • SMARTE™ can be moved to a new location without purchasing all new surfacing

  • SMARTE™ can be reused and recycled if a playground is no longer needed - rubber mulch can be used in other applications
